Monica and Max - Chakira's Revenge
Avenger Girl was alone at home when the delivery arrived. Max and Koi, with whom she shared the house, were out grocery shopping. Avenger Girl was pleasantly surprised to see a large, heart-shaped candy box on the doorstep and then suddenly remembered the date; February 15-Valentine’s Day!
Feeling giddy, Avenger Girl snatched up the package and carried into the living room.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Monica! Love, Max!” read the note under the red band on the present.
Monica Ellison, Avenger Girl’s true identity, had been co-habiting with Max Eisenheim and Koi Shiga for the past two years. Max and Koi were former thieves who now fought crime with Avenger Girl. Both women had fallen in love with Max during a caper that Avenger Girl foiled and had, after some difficulty, come to this domestic arrangement.
A swell of affection filled Avenger Girl as she lifted the lid. “I knew Max wouldn’t…”
SMACK!!!
A loaded boxing glove at the end of a steel spring shot out and connected to Avenger Girl’s chin. Her face stung painfully as the dazed crime fighter wobbled backward against the couch. The booby trap, its sprung glove still vibrating, slipped from Avenger Girl’s hands as her arms fell to her side.
Eyes glassy, Avenger Girl tried to stay upright, but the punch had been hard. A smile came over her face and she absently murmured “for…get…” as she tipped over the arm of the couch and landed on the cushions. An “ooohhh,” slow and fleeting, came out of her throat and Avenger Girl went out, head lolling to the side.
Five minutes later, a tall, elegantly beautiful Asian woman, dressed in a brown delivery outfit, entered through the front door. Seeing the woman who had sent her to jail two years ago, the stranger grinned to see the trap had worked perfectly.
“Pleasant dreams, stupid bitch!” she hissed with a Japanese accent. “Only Avenger Girl could be so dumb!”
The intruder went to the basement where she found Avenger Girl’s computer network. Plugging in her flash drive, she began copying files.
